# Syntax {#typoscript-syntax}

The TypoScript syntax is describes in-depth in the chapter
[TypoScript syntax](https://docs.typo3.org/m/typo3/reference-typoscript/12.4/en-us/Syntax/Index.html#typoscript-syntax) of the
[TypoScript Reference](https://docs.typo3.org/m/typo3/reference-typoscript/12.4/en-us/Index.html#start).

The TypoScript Syntax can be used for both Frontend TypoScript and TSconfig as
backend configuration langauge.

The syntax works different then other known configuration languages, therefore
it takes some time to get used to it.
