# Fine-tune editing, uploads and copying in the backend {#user-settings-personalization}

These settings change how the backend behaves while you work.

-   **Maximum length of displayed labels / record titles:** How many
    characters of a title are shown in lists before it is shortened. Between
    10 and 255, 50 by default.
-   **Allow to directly upload files when editing or creating records:** Shows
    a drop zone and an upload button in file fields when you edit a record.
-   **Use quick editing for records in the Layout module:** Opens content
    elements in a small editing form instead of the full record view.
-   **Show hidden files and folders in the Media module:** Shows files and
    folders that TYPO3 normally hides.
-   **Enable dynamic "recently used" category in wizards:** Puts the elements
    you use most at the top of the wizards.
-   **Recursive copy: Enter the number of page sublevels to include, when a
    page is copied:** How many levels below a copied page are copied with it.
    `0` copies just the page.
