# HBS_NAVIGATION {#co-hbs-navigation}

Resolves the navigation buttons (previous page, next page / submit) for the current
form page. Returns a list of processed items. Each item is built by the sub-configuration
keyed by button role.

**Button roles**

- `previousPage` – previous-page button (only present when not on the first page)
- `nextPage` – next-page button (only present when not on the last page)
- `submit` – submit button (only present on the last page or if explicitly enabled)

The submit button is rendered on all pages if `submit.renderOnAllPages`
is enabled (see below). This requires the form option
[allowFastForwardSubmit](https://docs.typo3.org/permalink/cpsit/typo3-handlebars-forms:co-hbs-navigation-fast-forward-submit@1.2) to be enabled as well.

Within each role block, `HBS_TAG` and `HBS_LABEL` operate on
the rendered `<button>` tag and the translated button label respectively.

**Example**

```typoscript
navItems = HBS_NAVIGATION
navItems {
    previousPage {
        label = HBS_LABEL
        name = HBS_TAG
        name.attribute = name
        value = HBS_TAG
        value.attribute = value
    }
    nextPage < .previousPage
    submit < .previousPage
}
```

**Options**

-   **renderOnAllPages**

    -   *Type:* boolean
    -   *Default:* 0

    Only valid within the `submit` block. If enabled, the submit button
    is added on every form page, in addition to the next-page and previous-page
    buttons. By default, it is only added on the last page.

    ```typoscript
    navItems = HBS_NAVIGATION
    navItems {
        submit {
            renderOnAllPages = 1
            label = HBS_LABEL
        }
    }
    ```

**Fast-forward submit**

EXT:form does not allow submitting a multi-page form from a page other than the last
one. To allow this, enable the option `renderingOptions.allowFastForwardSubmit`
of the form. It is available in the form editor as checkbox "Allow fast-forward submit"
within the inspector of the form root element. When enabled, a submit from any page
skips directly to form finishing. All pages that were skipped (i.e. all pages
after the last displayed one) are validated before. If validation fails for any of
them, the form is not submitted and the current page is rendered again.

```yaml
renderingOptions:
  allowFastForwardSubmit: true
```
