Introduction

What does it do?

This extension adds the functionality of Post-It™-like yellow notes to the TemplaVoila page module. They can be used as a low-level workflow tool in order to enhance communication between different editors of a website. These notes are page-related and will show you by its color if you already read them or if they changed in the meantime.

Requirements

Warning: This extension requires very recent versions of both, TemplaVoila (CVS 2004-06-17 or later) and the TYPO3 core (TYPO3 3.7.0dev and up). However, it won't break anything if you use an older version of either one.

Users manual

Using TemplaVoila Notes is very easy and it has been designed to be very simple on purpose. You won't find fancy features here, it's just like putting down a note on a piece of paper – and attaching it to a page in TYPO3.

Creating a new note

While you are working with the TemplaVoila page you will notice a small yellow icon in the upper right corner. Just click on it and a new note will be created:

Edit, close and delete a note

As you can see, the note is completely empty. In order to fill it with some more or less usefull content, just click on the little pencil:

Immediately the note changes to the edit view:

Just fill in some title and the message you'd like to leave for this page. Except a simple line break there is no other way of formatting your text. No bold, italic, supersubunderscript – just plain text.

After you have entered your valuable information, just press the tiny disc icon in order to save your changes. The note will instantly appear in the normal view. Now you may either close the note (by clicking on the little cross) or delete it by pressing the garbage can:

Read & Unread

If someone else than you creates or modifies a note, the little note icon will turn red to inform you that there is some information you didn't read yet. Just open the note, read what your colleagues wrote and close the note.

Adminstration

By now, there are no jobs related to this extension aimed to administrators.

Configuration

Just install the extension by using the extension manager. You just have to confirm that a new table called tx_rlmptvnotes_notes will be created. Obviously, this table will contain your notes later on.

Known problems

None yet.

To-Do list

  • Although this extension is working with stylesheets internally, yet there is no way of using your own styles. But that will change in the future. One thing you can do with your own styles is using a different font for the notes (like my own hand-writing ...):

  • Many other ideas (like a backend module giving an overview of all (unread) notes) ...
