Introduction

This TYPO3 extension enables backend users to quickly check and improve the readability level of their content in TYPO3. A dashboard widget is also provided that provides an overview of the readability across all content in the CMS.

Organisations can use this extension to improve the accessibility of their websites according the the WCAG 2.1 guidelines (See section 3: https://www.w3.org/TR/WCAG21/#readable)

Readability is measured according to the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR). The CEFR organises language proficiency in six levels, A1 to C2.

Languages supported:

  • Dutch,

  • English

  • German

This extension requires an api key for the EDIA Readability API.

What does it do?

This extension analyses the CEFR readability level of content elements in your TYPO3 installation. The extension also suggests replacements for difficult words in the text to help authors improve the readability of their texts.

The following content types are analysed:

  • Text

  • Text with images

  • Text with media

  • News (if installed)

Note

The functionality can be extended to other fields and tables. This only works for RTE fields
