What does it do?

This extension adds IP blocking capabilities to Comments extension. It can block IP addresses using three different ways:

  • Block all known spam/virus network (uses SmapHaus DROP list)
  • Block IP addresses added by system administrator
  • Block IP addresses from DNSBLs (like cbl.abuseat.org)

This extension was created by Dmitry Dulepov for Netcreators BV.

Screenshots

The extension does not have any user interface, so there are no screenshots.

Users manual

This extension works system-wide, so there are no options to configure. Extension parameters can be changed only by administrator (see “Administration” section).

Adminstration

When extension is installed, administrator can select two options:

  • Add static data. This adds SmapHaus DROP list
  • Enter one or more DNSBL addresses (like cbl.abuseat.org or bl.spamcop.net)

Typically static data should be imported by DNSBLs should be left empty.

Blocked IP addresses can be seen in the table named “Local IP blocking list for comments” on the Globe level in the page tree (pid=0).

Configuration

Extension changes e-mail template for Comments extension to its own version. That version contains links to block IP address when comment is deleted.
