Introduction¶
What does it do?¶
I wrote this extension for a client once and find it is so easy and convenient I end up using it all the time so here it is released to the wild.
This extension allows you to self brand the default TYPO3 login screen and removes the TYPO3 BE tol left logo. And optionally you can replace it with your own logo. Why? because when I work in several BE's at a time I like to have better visual clues to which BE I am working on at a time!
When BE users log in to a website that I created using TYPO3 CMS they now see something that looks more like their own branding. This plugin lets you upload any size image and as many as you want to let them rotate. The uploaded login images are all accessible from within the /fileadmin folder. This is so easy to use look at these screenshots!
Screenshots¶
See below....
Fig.1 Showing the main login with an image.
Fig.2 Showing the main login using a image.
Fig. 3 Even without an image I think the login screen is improved. A matter of taste of course!
Fig.4 Look how the TYPO3 Back End is now cleaned up. The image on the right is the default and the image on the left is the cleaned result of this extension.
NEW FEATURE - The default typo3 logo can now be replaced - just upload an image 140px by 45px to the automatically created fileadmin/loginimages/sml_log/logo.gif
Now let's go explore how to make this work on your site!
Users manual¶
Step 1 – Install the plugin from the repository¶
Step 2 – Optional - Upload images¶
The extension prompts you to automatically create the /fileadmin/loginimages folder so just upload your login images to here. The extension also creates a second folder /fileadmin/loginimages/sml_logo where you can add your own top left logo image. Just remember the maximim size is 145px by 45px.
Config completed! - simply view your Back End or your Login page to see it working.

Changelog¶
1 December 2007 - Initial version
8 March 2008 - I fixed the location of the top logo frame background image
8 March 2008 - I added the ability to put your own custom logo in the top left logo frame. Images must be no bigger than 140px x 45px. If you use alpha transparency the background shows through nicely.
